Alex Greene
Red Beard Lumber is run by Alex Greene, based on family property in Wyoming Valley, south of Spring Green. The primary goal of this business is responsible and sustainable management of the family forest, promoting its growth and health over time. With the latest techniques in small-scale, low-impact equipment, Alex is able to selectively harvest salvage and overcrowded trees and sawmill them on-site into lumber. A gentle and efficient solar drying kiln dries the lumber for interior use purposes, before they are processed into flooring on small-scale equipment at a nearby farm. Alex installs these floors himself, specializing in character hardwood floors that feature blends of complementary species. Alex believes in the philosophical, ecological, and aesthetic advantages of natural building, and views his local and sustainable flooring as the perfect complement to any natural building project.
Alex also has experience custom sawing timbers for use in timber frame or post and beam structures. For customers who desire structural posts and beams using either their own, or locally-sourced timber, this is a great option.
